The real Sir Duke on his first night at home with Emily. Up until this night, he had never slept indoors and had to learn to walk up stairs. He settled right in to his cozy blankets and bed.

Sir Duke of Astoria was originally known as Sir Duke of Defiance (Ohio). He had been living in a barn with over twenty other dogs! All of them were too much for the human owners to care for, so the Defiance County Humane Society swooped in to find forever homes for them. All were adopted, but for Sir Duke. Moved by her love for animals, Emily Hawkins (agent for Sir Duke the Paw-thor) drove through a Level 3 Snow Emergency to rescue sweet Sir Duke on Valentine’s Day of 2014. Their shared adventures would take them from the shores of the Great Lakes to the city lights of the Big Apple, where Sir Duke and Emily found their favorite place — Astoria, Queens. Join Sir Duke on his many tales of adventure and discovery in NYC — where dreams are made and all are welcome!
